Unique Theme for Wedding Receptions Part One
Tired of the same old hum drum traditional wedding? Want something a little more unique for your friends and family to remember your nuptials by? Why not plan a theme wedding! Theme weddings are fun and exciting for you and your guests. Best of all you can get as creative as you want with them! In the next several posts I will highlight several of my favorite unique themes for wedding receptions. Here is the first one on the list:
The Roaring Twenties!
The 1920’s was an incredible era full of dancing, gorgeous costumes, and scandalous parties. The period of speakeasies, long strand pearls, bobbed hair and flapper dresses this theme offers tons of ideas for the perfect event!
Invitations: Get your guests in the mood with the invitations. Plan for your reception to be a pretend speakeasy and hire a bouncer to ask for the password at the entrance. Think of the perfect password, something like a place that the two of you met. Then make sure to mention the password for entrance on your invitations. The exclusivity and mystery of the invitation will get your guests excited over your big day!
Attire: If you want a more literal dress for the occasion consider a long charmeuse gown with a high neck and draped low draped back. Your bridesmaids can wear knee length flapper dresses with t strap heels and long strand pearls knotted pearls. The men can wear zuit suits in true Al Copone spirit, complete with chains and cigars for pictures.
Favors: Make this theme for wedding receptions interactive by giving things to dress the part with. You can find inexpensive costume jewelry such as long strand pearls and large gemstone rings. Pile the jewelry at the entrance and encourage your guests to dress up! Hand out cigars to the men, perfect for a photo op. You can also give them a recipe for make your own alcohol at home in true prohibition spirit.
